Late 18th Century French Gilt and Ebonised Mirror

Late 18th Century French Gilt and Ebonised Mirror

A highly decorative late 18th Century French fretwork wall mirror.

This lovely piece has a fantastic aged look both on the original gilded finish and the old original ebonised wood. In keeping with the Georgian period when it was made. When being cleaned we found an old French newspaper in the back dating to the early 1900s, somebody had put it there as a time capsule - this is on the back of the mirror as part of it’s history. The mirror glass itself is the original glass with relevant aged foxing, just a lovely piece.

Period: Circa 1780
